Chettinad Special Okra Mandi

Climate is too hot, cool the body and tummy by taking curd rice 😀, usually in summer, we prefer to take curd rice. curd rice with a variety of mandi is an excellent combination, this is special in Chettinad.
Today's combination is curd rice with okra (Venndakai in Tamil) mandi

Ingredients

Temper

Okra

Mustard seeds

Onion

Urad dhal
|

Garlic
|
Red chili
|

Tomato

Rice powder or Rice water
|
|
Green Chili
|
|
|
Tamarind
|
|
|
Salt
|
|
- Heat oil in a pan, splutter the items to temper
- Add onion, garlic & green chili and saute well until onion becomes golden brown, then add tomatoes to it, saute well
- Add okra and saute it until the stickiness is gone
- Add Tamarind juice, salt and let it boil for few mins until everything gets along well
- In a separate bowl mix rice flour with little water to make a paste (but not too watery) and add to that pan, or if you have rice water you can use that
- Allow it to boil until it thickens, switch off the flame.
Okra mandi is ready, you can serve it with curd rice
