Chitra Annam for Chitra Guptar on Chitra pournami

Chitra Annam refers to the variety of rice. I made this for Chitra pournami as Chitra guptar likes the most. Chitra pournami is observed on chitra natchatiram the day of the full moon in the month of Chitirai. This is one of the Hindu festivals and mainly dedicated to god chitra guptar, who maintain the records of good and bad deeds done by humans, and he reports to Lord Yama (dharma raja) as he allots seats either in heaven or hell based on their deeds, that is what believed by Hindus. On that day people worship him by seeking forgiveness and requesting him to reduce their sins. They offer him varieties of prasadam and read the stories of him. so I made rice varieties. People will make varieties of rice on baby shower function too😀.

It is believed that Lord shove gave soul to the chitiram (painting) painted by lord Parvati, named their son as Chitra Gupta. Once lord Yama asked for an assistant to maintain his accounts (good and evil actions of humans).as it is very difficult for him to maintain all alone.so shiva assisted Chitra Gupta to Lord Yama. Chitra Gupta is a very straight forward person and does his duties honestly.so people worship him on that day to reduce their sins and put an obligation to Yama via him. This is the story heard from elders (one version).so people celebrated in a grand manner.

On the other hand, As per Wikipedia, Chitra Gupta is the 17th Manasa Putra of Lord Brahma and it is believed to be created from lord Brahma's soul and mind (chitt), and thus he allotted the right to write Vedas like Brahmins with the duty of a kshatriya.(another vision).

I prepared rice varieties and offered to him, we don't know how to perform the pooja in a proper way, what to chant /sing special songs/read stories, so we did it in a simple way recited Chitra Gupta Gayatri mantra
as below

"OM LE(Y)KINI HASTHAAYA VIDHMAHE
BADHRATHARAAYA DHEEMAHI
THANNO SITHRAPPRACHODAYATH".

"ஓம் லேகிநி ஹஸ்தாய வித்மஹே
பத்ரதராய தீமஹி
தந்நோ சித்ரப்ரசோதயாத்"

Chitra Gupta temple is located in Kancheepuram in Tamilnadu, the oldest temple in south India dedicated to him. The archeologist has confirmed based on the inscriptions that the temple was built during the 9th century by medieval cholas.
